Sie betreten das Projektgebiet von „Wisent Thal“. Wir untersuchen hier, ob freilebende Wisente im Jura tragbar sind. Die Wisente befinden sich deshalb in einem grossen Gehege, welches frei zugänglich ist.  Wisente sind grundsätzlich sehr scheue und sanfte Tiere. Werden sie aber gereizt oder an ihrem natürlichen Verhalten (z. B. beim Schutz der Jungtiere) gehindert, können sie gefährlich werden. Bitte beachten Sie deshalb die folgenden Verhaltensregeln!

• Bleiben Sie auf den Wegen.
• Führen Sie Hunde an der kurzen Leine (ausser in Gefahrensituationen).
• Gehen oder fahren Sie nicht mitten durch die Herde.
• Halten Sie mindestens 50 m Abstand zu den Wisenten.
• Wisentkühe schützen ihre Jungen, halten Sie deshalb grossen Abstand zu den Kälbern.

• Vergrössern Sie den Abstand zwischen Ihnen und den Wisenten, falls ein Wisent
  • Sie anstarrt und den Kopf schüttelt oder mit den Hufen scharrt oder
  • den Kopf senkt und sich in Ihre Richtung bewegt.
• Vergrössern Sie die Distanz langsam und drehen Sie den Wisenten nicht den Rücken zu.
• Das Füttern der Wisente ist nicht erlaubt.

Bienvenue chez les bisons d’Europe du Thal!

Vous entrez dans la zone du projet « Wisent Thal ». Le projet vise à déterminer si la présence de bisons d’Europe en liberté est acceptable dans le Jura. Les bisons se trouvent donc dans un grand enclos, qui est librement accessible. Les bisons d’Europe sont en principe des animaux très timides et doux. Mais s’ils sont irrités ou empêchés d’adopter leur comportement naturel (par exemple pour protéger leurs veaux), ils peuvent devenir dangereux. Veuillez donc respecter les règles de conduite suivantes!

• Restez sur les chemins.
• Tenez les chiens en laisse courte (sauf en situation de danger).
• Ne traversez pas le troupeau à pied ou en véhicule.
• Gardez une distance d’au moins 50 m des bisons.
• Gardez une grande distance des veaux – les bisons protègent leurs petits.

• Augmentez la distance entre vous et les bisons, si un bison
  • vous regarde fixement et secoue la tête ou gratte le sol avec ses sabots ou
  • baisse la tête et se déplace dans votre direction.
• Augmentez la distance calmement, lentement et ne tournez pas le dos aux bisons.
• Il est interdit de nourrir les bisons.

Welcome to the European bison of the Thal!

By crossing this fence you enter the project area of “Wisent Thal”. The project aims to investigate whether free-ranging bison are sustainable in the Jura. The bison are therefore kept in a large enclosure, which is freely accessible.  Bison are basically shy and gentle animals. However, if they are disturbed or prevented from their natural behaviour (e.g. protecting their calves), they can become dangerous. We therefore recommend to follow the rules of behaviour!

• Stay on the paths.
• Keep dogs on a short leash (except in dangerous situations).
• Do not walk or drive through the herd.
• Keep a distance of at least 50 m to the bison.
• Stay away from young animals – bison cows protect their calves.

• Increase the distance between you and the animals, if a bison
  • stares at you and shakes its head or scrapes the ground with its hooves, or
  • if it lowers its head and moves towards you.
• Increase the distance calmly, slowly and do not turn your back on the bison.
• Feeding the bison is not allowed.
